Sampling and Preparation:
The customer delivered 6 non-weat
hered and 6 weathered fibre cement slabs of 20 cm x 30
cm dimensions (1 year outdoor weathered), decorated with a light colour and an anti-graffiti
coating. These specimens were inspected for visible defects. It was agreed with the customer
to use the graffiti remover Rasant 031 in combination with the water-based cleaner
Arrow-Plan. Specimens were stored for 7 days at room climatic conditions before the „basic
test“ and the „stress test“ were conducted.
Testing:
Durability test
Testing of durability of applied anti-graffiti systems against the graffiti removers Rasant 031
and Arrow-Plan:
- measurement of the initial values of gloss and surface texture on three defined areas of
each specimen
- deposition of the graffiti remover over a residence time of 3 hours
- removal of the graffiti remover according to the technical application instructions
- storage of the fibre cement slabs for 2 hours at standard climatic conditions after cleaning
- measurement of gloss and surface textu
re on three defined areas of the specimens ,
monitoring the changes of the characteristics
Basic test
- measurement of the initial values of gloss, colour and surface texture on defined test areas
of the fibre cement slabs
- application of 10 colorants (graffiti systems) onto defined test areas according to ReGG
- storage of graffiti-decorated specimens for 7 days at standard climatic conditions
- removal of the graffiti with Rasant 031 and Arrow-Plan according to the technical
application instructions
- storage of the specimens for 2 hours at standard climatic conditions after cleaning
- monitoring of the colour differences
- assessment of the „cleaning power“ with a characteristic number according to ReGG
Stress test
The test was performed over 15 cycles and 1 cycle is comprised of:
- measurement of the initial values of gloss, colour and surface texture on defined test areas
of the specimens; it is differentiated between fixed test fields and alternating test fields
- applicatio
n of 4 colorants (graffiti systems), as defined by ReGG, on to the test fields.
- storage of the graffiti-decorated specimens for 24 hours at standard climatic conditions
- removal of the graffiti with Rasant 031 und Arrow-Plan according to the technical
application instructions

- storage of the specimens for 2 hours at standard climatic conditions after cleaning
- measurement of gloss, colour and surface texture on defined test fields of the fibre cement
slabs, monitoring of the changes in the respective characteristic numbers
- the „cleaning power“ is expressed in terms of a characteristic number as defined by ReGG
Evaluation:
All characteristic numbers were based on double measurements on 2 independent test fields.
From these characteristic numbers for the “cleaning power” (KZ Farbe) of each colorant, the
functionality parameter C can be calculated.
For the basic test, the equation for the parameter C reads:

Test Results:
A) Classification
The results of the classification for the non-weathered fibre cement slabs Natura Pro are
listed below.
Durability test
Table 1 lists the results of the durability test. No changes in gloss at 85 °geometry ( GE //
85°) were found. No changes in the roughness parameters such as Ra (arithmetic mean of the
profile) and Rz (maximum height of the profile) were detected (total distance: 12,5 mm,
single distance: 2,5 mm).
It can be summarised that the combination of the graffiti remover Rasant 031 combined with
the water-based cleaner Arrow-Plan has no negative impact on the glos
s and the surface
texture of the anti-graffiti coating.

Basic test
Table 2 lists the cleaning characteristics for the 10 colorants, which is compressed into one
“functionality parameter” C. Due to the high magnitude of the parameter C (C = 86,5), the
performance of the Eternit fibre cement slabs Natura Pro in the basic test was assessed as
EXCELLENT. Additionally, Table 2 reports the E*-values (colour differences). Those
values are in line with the cleaning characteristics (KZ). Strong deviations from the initial
values were found after anti-graffiti treatment of colorant 5 ( E* = 33,1), a black under body
protection. The dif
ferences in E* of 2,2 after removal of colorant 9, a pink spray coating,
are fairly pronounced.

Stress test
Table 3 lists the cleaning characteristics for 4 colorants (FM) on fixed test fields and
alternating test fields after each cleaning cycle (15 cycles in total). Parameter C for the
functionality, calculated according to equation 2, is reported as well.

Due to the high magnitude of C (C = 87,5) obtained from the fixed fields (C = 88,75
obtained from the alternating fields) after 15 cleaning cycles, the performance of the
anti-graffiti coating during the stress test was assessed as EXCELLENT. The C-values
obtained from the alternating fields wer
e comparable and even slightly greater than those
obtained from the fixed fields.
After the fifth and seventh cleaning cycle during the stress test the performance of the
anti-graffiti systems was assessed as EXCELLENT (75 < parameter C > 80, fixed field).
Table 4 compiles the changes in gloss at 85 ° geometry during the stress test, Figures 1 und 2
are the corresponding graphs. The change in gloss (decrease) was found to be 2-3 gloss units
(GE) when obtained from fixed fields and 1,5-2,5 gloss units (GE) when obtained from
alternating fields.

Table 5 summarises the colour changes ( E*) during the stress test, Figures 3 and 4 are the
corresponding graphs. After 15 cleaning cycles, the E*-values obtained from fixed fields
and alternating fields were ranged between 0,12 and 0,48, respectively. This corresponds to
very little differences in colour compared to the initial values.

Table 6 lists the changes of the arithmetic mean of the profile values ( Ra) during the
stress test. Figures 5 und 6 are the corre
sponding graphs. After 15 cleaning cycles, the
Ra-values obtained from fixed- and alternated fields were around 0,15 µm on average. The
surface of the anti-graffiti coating became only slightly rougher during the stress test,
independently of the colorant applied. This finding agrees well with the changes in gloss,
which were only up to 3 gloss units (GE) maximum at 85 ° geometry.
